5 Things We Learned From Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani On Its 8th Anniversary

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ayan Mukerji’s second directorial, is eight years old today. In addition, the film marked Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s second on-screen collaboration. There were some tender and painful life lessons to be learned behind the lush scenery of Manali and the expected mainstays of a Dharma venture.

Here are 5 things we learnt from the evergreen film, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani-

1. Travel. Don’t think twice!

The aforementioned phrase served as the basis for the entire film. Kabir, who prefers to be called Bunny, the protagonist, was a world traveller. He fantasised about travelling to every part of the globe. He wishes to live a life that allows him to run, fly, even fall, but never stop. Who wouldn’t be enthralled by the breathtaking grandeur of the mountains in Manali? Moreover, the magnificent international locales.

2. Pause, Breathe and Look Around

While exploring the city of Udaipur, Naina and Bunny have a conversation that starts lightheartedly but abruptly changes tone when she reminds him that no matter how hard you try, some things will slip from your grasp, so it’s better to pause, breathe, and savour the moment you’re in. Point Noted!

3. Family and Friends Should Always Come First

Bunny, whose obsession with his aspirations and ambitions threatens to push him into a condition of callousness, receives this reality check from at least three significant characters. Avinash, played by Aditya Roy Kapur, Naina, who has had affections for Bunny for almost eight years, and Aditi, who has virtually given up on him, are the three. It is only after he has lost his father that he knows how essential friends and family are above fantasy.

4. Love Conquers All

Beyond the journey movie that it appears to be, there’s a heart concealed somewhere in the storey that not only wants Bunny to love the people around him but also wishes we all find love! Farooq Shaikh is caught between his absolute love for Bunny and Bunny’s unconditional passion for travel in one of the film’s most tender and moving scenes. He willingly lets him pursue his ambitions and assures him that he would always be there for him. Bunny regrets losing this love afterwards, so love, always!

5. Find Compassion In Life

Even if the conclusion of YJHD could be guessed within the first ten minutes of the film. It was Ayan’s approach to the conclusion that kept us interested throughout. Bunny runs straight to Naina, proposes to her, and asks her to be her travel and life partner before he thinks he would be alone for the rest of his life if he misses his flight to Paris. Moreover, he was ready to eat Daal Chawal for the rest of his life. As the end credits begin to roll, both Bunny and us realize it’s no fun travelling alone, just find a companion!
