As the country grapples with the unfortunate situation caused by the second wave of covid’19, there is also a seeming amount of disappointment amongst fans of Bollywood stars and celebrities for sharing their picture perfect vacation escapades on their social media handles and, most of they belonged to the Maldives- the most popular holiday destination chosen by celebrities.
The most recent development in this matter is that the Maldivian government imposed a travel ban for Indian tourists from April 27th 2021, which means that we will no longer be able to see the picturesque clear skies and blue waters on our feeds anymore.
But the question is, do we really want to?
Shouldn’t the celebrities take a moment and realise that the majority of our country is going through a horrific ordeal with a record number of cases and deaths being witnessed everyday. Shouldn’t they use their accounts to amplify messages to help people in need, rather than focusing on the aesthetics of their social feeds.
Let’s really hope that they introspect and come up with ways to use their fame to help the general public through these distressing times. In the meanwhile, let’s look at some of the covid positive celebrities in India who also tested positive for the virus.
Here is a list of covid positive Bollywood celebrities in India
The first to make the list of covid positive actors is Varun Dhawan. He contracted the virus some time in early December during the shoot of his film Jug Jugg Jeeyo in Chandigarh. The actor admitted to not have been as “careful” and “cautious” as he should have been.
Earlier last month, Ranbir Kapoor tested positive for covid. His mother Neetu Kapoor confirmed this news via Instagram and the actor had said to be recovering well in home quarantine.
Bhumi Pednekar also tested positive for Covid in the first week of April. She shared this news via a detailed Instagram story and asked her followers to maintain social distancing and “be mindful of their general behaviour”
Around the same time as Bhumi, Uri actor Vicky Kaushal also tested positive for Covid-19. He confirmed on Instagram that despite taking all precautions he still contracted the virus and was placed under home quarantine.
Katrina Kaif is the latest actor to join the list of stars with covid. The actor shared the news via Instagram story. She also stated that all those who came in contact with her to get tested as a precautionary measure.
Do you think it is fair for celebrities to post about their vacations on their social handles at a crucial time like this? Or do you think that it is an intrinsic part of their job and can’t be ignored.
Whatever one’s opinion might be, people out there need our help. Moreover, Bollywood celebrities can be a true catalyst for change, provided they put their fame to good use.
